Case Studies
Haunted Missouri Paranormal Studies was founded by Tonya Clark and me, Belinda
Clark-Ache in 2004. For the first months we went by another name, claiming this
one as our own in early 2005.

Our experience in paranormal investigation began when we were invited by Michelle
King, co-founder of The Ghoststalkers of West Tennessee to meet her and her
co-founder, Shelley Sullivan at an impromptu investigation at The Lemp Mansion
in 2002. After accompanying these ladies and later their team as it grew and changed
we participated in several investigations of historical sites, cemetery's and B&B's
before being asked to become "Missouri affiliates".

We proudly associated ourselves with them but were only briefly before we decided to
start a local team. Memphis-Mid South Ghost Hunters is the current name of the
team who began as The Ghoststalkers. In their archives you should be able to find
investigative reports from locations that we were a part of the investigations.

Here is a list of our investigations.

Trail of Tears State Park, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

In January of 2007 Wendy, Tonya and Belinda accompanied by Shaina McKenna
(who is now on the TRIP/ICPIR team with Wendy in Tennessee) had to abort a
planned investigation to a historic inn in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri when the date,
time and location were posted by a man who feels that he is a rival of ours (he is not--
the two teams do not compare, we have completely different goals) with a message to
his group admonishing them to go and "Get us all" and "Don't let any of them out
alive". Of course he now claims this was a "JOKE" but with his previous threats and
aggressive behavior in mind I could not risk the welfare of my team or guests. So at
the last minute we redirected and spent a very nice weekend in Cape Girardeau.

We began the day by walking the levy at the place where half of the Cherokee Nation
crossed the Mississippi River before it froze up leaving the unprepared Cherokee
People stranded on both sides of the river. In total 4000 men, women and children
died when the Cherokee were forced from their home near Rome, Georgia and
marched to Talequah, Oklahoma; the current Capitol of The Cherokee Nation. (Read
the Cherokee Messenger's Brief History of The Trail of Tears by The Cherokee
Nation)

Randy Golden, writing exclusively for OUR GEORGIA HISTORY writes: "In
general the settlers who witnessed the Cherokee moving west were indifferent to their
plight. While some did offer assistance, most did not. In a number of cases the settlers
did not want the Cherokee in their towns, so the groups were forced to change their
route. For example, at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the Cherokee had been fording the
Mississippi at a point near downtown. City fathers, who were unhappy with the long
lines of Indians passing through town asked that they cross two miles north, at a
more difficult crossing known as Moccasin Springs. Today a state park
commemorates the site where Rev. Jesse Bushyhead lost his sister after crossing an
ice-covered river."

There were no anomalous readings in any of our equipment at this location. NO
feelings of psychic nature, no indication whatsoever that there had been a tragedy of
that magnitude at that location. It is a beautiful place and truly one of the least
psychically charged locations I have ever been to.

More case studies will be added, please check back.

The Wicker Inn,  Duval Street, Key West Florida

The Wicker Inn

Our preliminary investigation turned up absolutely nothing. Although the place has
the history and ambiance to boast a haunting there were no feelings, readings or
stories on which to base a return trip. Unfortunately, because I'd love to go back.
Belinda S.R., and 2 guests who ask not to be named were here in February 2007.

Private Cemetery Ste Genevieve County, Missouri

Preliminary investigation 01-01-05. Belinda and Tonya took Camera's, audio
recorders and EMF meters to this small private grave yard where locals claim that on
certain nights they see twinkling lights. After a cursory investigation we were able to
debunk this legend. Story added to TRUE STORY page. Look for "The Great
Cellophane Caper".

Fort Davidson Battlefield and Motel, Pilot Knob, Missouri

Tonya and Belinda investigated here 01-09-05. Armed with camera's, audio and not
much else (since Missouri Recreation doesn't allow any other tools) Pictures caught
several mists but those alone are inconclusive. You may see those pictures in our
photo gallery. We were able to use divining rods to connect with a spirit but have
been unable to historically document any of that information. In the early morning
hours we did here a drum beating from the field where the mas grave is, but we could
find no reason to have heard that.

Private Residence, Farmington ~ UPDATED March 08

Between February and June of 2005 we conducted ongoing investigations at this
rural location. The families paternal grand parents had both died in the home in
2003 and 2004 and there were visual and auditory phenomena, things tossed about
and an infestation of butterflies... WEEKS before they should have been able to be
there (seasonally).

Continued discussions, investigations and the use of a journal were able to adapt the
family to the spirits presence. The journal helped the family ascertain things that
agitated the spirit, IE things they were doing to redecorate, clean, otherwise deal
with the property  were discovered as the family logged the circumstances under
which the disturbances occurred.

I speak with the resident regularly and they do occasionally have phenomena that
startles them but things are going well. Belinda, Tonya and several family witnesses
used camera's, audio, video, digital; multi room thermometers, and various EMF
meters in addition to divining rods were used. I refrain from mentioning evidence
because the family requests no further information be released at this time.

March 2008 family reports they still have activity and keep a detailed journal to help
us validate historical evidence. It can still be startling and occasionally frightening
but living and the dead seem to coexist mostly in peace.

Main Street Historical Restaurant; Cape Girardeau, Missouri~ UPDATED 03-05-08

March of 2007 and September of 2007 Preliminary investigations at this location
have failed to turn up any concrete data. Over 100 years of local legend and lore will
not be denied though and we are awaiting word to return for an extended
investigation being discussed for after the first of the year.

This may not happen now as management has changed and the new manager hasn't
experienced the bell ringing or other phenomena yet - March 08

Shiloh Civil War Battlefield; Shiloh, Tennessee

2005 Tonya and I traveled to Shiloh, Tennessee and met Wendy there. The weather
kept us from doing any hard core investigating as it went from near 40 at night and
80 during the day and fluctuated from bright sunshine to near torrential rain during
our stay. Each of us got some amazing pictures at this historical and spiritual spot.
Including several I have posted around the net. Although our investigation turned
into more of a tour, there was something extraordinary there. I don't know if it was
supernatural but it was AWESOME in a way that the word falls short of capturing.

The Parlor Bed & Breakfast; Ironton, Missouri

In April of 2005 and in spring 2006 Tonya and I met with various investigators in
Ironton, Missouri where we had the pleasure of investigating The Parlor.

Tim Harte, from The Mesa Project joined us on our first trip there and we not only
each had a personal anomalous experience but where his Multi Array System also
recorded readings consistent with haunt phenomena. Tim also recorded a short piece
of video tape that showed audio and video  phenomenon.

I captured an interesting red mist in a picture of the Parlor and made several returns
trying to duplicate the circumstances. I also tried to reproduce the picture without
the use of photo shop and could not.

Tonya and I also spent several long visits in The Old Woodcutters Cemetery trying to
catch sight of a ghost said to appear near there. We got some wonderful cemetery
pictures.

I introduced Mickey (STLRIPP) to the owner of The Parlor in another visit and we
heard some of the wonderful stories she tell.

We collected more data on the trips to The Parlor than we have in any other single
location since we began investigating with the possible exception of The Magnolia
Manor in Bolivar, Tennessee.

Cemetery Hill Ghost Light, Bonne Terre, Mo.

Tonya and I decided to check out the story that there is a mysterious light that can be
seem coming from this Cherry Street Cemetery after her own children pointed them
out to her one night as they drove passed the location. A daylight visit gave us no
indication of anything that might make this anomaly but one walk through the
location after dark told the story. On the hill there is a beautifully decorated
memorial at a headstone that includes a wedding bouquet, chimes, pictures, trinkets,
flowers and one small solar luminary light. The glow is either viable or not
depending on the angle your looking into the cemetery. From the roads that flank
two sides of the grave yard the light can sometimes be seen but at other times it is
obscured by the rise of the land, other stones or the flower arrangements.
