NEW** Forest Park, St. Louis, Mo. THANK YOU Kriston B! Kriston writes that a few years ago while having lunch at Forest Park, left of the History Museum where the play area is now (it was not a play area then) she was shocked to hear faint, phantom Big Band music. She investigated and even stopped nearby runners to ask if they also heard the music. Kriston would like to know if anyone else has had this experience or others like it in Forest Park? CONTACT US HERE to reply.
Cottey College: THANK YOU MELISSA! http://workingonthepipeline.com/macabre.html I didn't write this, but it explains a lot. Madame Blitz's house is where the library is now and the library has oddities. I found out a couple of weeks ago that Reeves Hall is built on the site where Missouri Hall had stood. Missouri Hall had been an old mansion that had been turned into a sanitarium for the insane before it was purchased by the college and turned into a dorm. It burnt down later. Reeves is where The Black Spirit is seen. It is what is usually referred to as a shadow person. However, girls have been grabbed by him. I would do a call out for Cottey Girls and you will get a lot of personal stories.
*NEW* Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri: name submitted by Amy via our contact form. No further information sent. We welcome more information on this site from anyone who has any.

Old Salem Church & Cemetery, undisclosed location Southeast Missouri. The owners allowed us access to this beautiful, out of the way spot in fall 2005 in exchange for telling the "real" ghost hunters to leave them alone. The Family grave yard has been desecrated by vandals hoping to be scared by the reported ghost boy and although the owners (now) realize that this is not actual paranormal investigators who have torn down stones and littered the place with trash and feces they wanted us to report they have hired armed security to patrol their property.
The Holiday Inn at Six Flags in Eureka Missouri is said to be haunted by the spirit of a little girl who fell from the towering loft of what was then the barn and is now the entry. She has been reported playing by the elevators and seen in the loft windows above the lobby. The pool area is said to be haunted by the spirits of children who tragically drowned in the pool on separate occasions in the same year. They can be heard playing when no one is there and wet children's footprints have been seen exiting the deep end of the pool. I have spent over a dozen nights in this hotel and have yet to collect any data to support these stories.
Now; rewritten from the book Haunted Places, The National Directory by Dennis William Hauck here are some others:
Inspiration Point in Branson: The ghost of a confederate soldier haunts this lookout that was used by the confederates in the civil war. First seen in 1964 during a play about the Baldnobbers (a group of pro-Union vigilantes) the ghosts seemed to be fleeing the actors in one of the scenes. Someone turned him in though and he was shot to death by firing squad in front of Senior hall. Sarah climbed to the bell tower, looped the cord around her neck and leaped to her death. Sutton House in Columbia: The stone foundation of this house stood at 4933 Lake Valley Lane, Columbia, Mo. 65203. The fire department deliberately burned the house to the ground in 1983 after years of neglect when no one would live in the house due to the ghost. A short young woman with long brown hair wearing a gray dress was reported there. Built before the civil war this house was the residence of the Sutton family for many generations. The grey girls singing was sometimes reported to fill the entire house.

Its a private property and one must wonder if the current occupants even know what happened there in 1958?
Lake House in Hollister: Pervert ghosts! In the 1930's a lecherous voyeur murdered his wife and buried her in the basement. Now his vaporous form is seen hovering outside the bathroom window that is 18 feet off the ground when unsuspecting women are using the toilet. Devil's Promenade in Joplin: In the village of Hornet, eleven miles southwest of Joplin near the borders of Missouri/Oklahoma/Kansas there is a strange orange ghost light that has been seen "almost every night since 1866. This light leaves behind a trail of glowing sparks and has been reported to enter cars or buses. It has been called The Hornet Ghost Light, The Neosho Spook Light, and the devil's Jack-o-lantern. Scientists who have studied this phenomenon can not agree on the cause of this light. In 1946 The Army Corp of Engineers called it a "mysterious light of unknown origins". In 1983 Ghost Research Society said the light was diamond shaped with a hollow center. Locals say that this could be the spirits of Quapaw Indian lovers who committed suicide or of a minor looking for his lost wife and children but neither story goes much deeper than that. Known as the Spookville Triangle the lights are reported to be seen from any point along a two mile section of the road here. Follow I-44 West from Joplin, turn south onto State line Road. Devil's Promenade intersects this road after about 4 miles. There is an abandoned Spook light Museum at this sight. www.ghost.org/ghostlights/hornet.html
